The time has come to make my predictions for the big game this year. Unlike ESPN, I chose to wait until Friday instead of two weeks ago to begin my coverage of the Super Bowl as well as make my pick. Two weeks ago when we knew which teams would meet in the Super Bowl I was certain the Steelers would win, and also be favored in Vegas, now I’m second guessing myself.
I looked at what teams the Steelers had lost to over this season and there was one thing in common with all of the teams, they spread the ball out and have wide open formations. The Packers do the same thing with their four or five receiver sets, not to mention Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind right now.
Everyone knows the Steelers defense is phenomenal, but so is the Packers. Over the course of the past few years in the Super Bowl, good defenses tend to get worn down and it’s the offenses that are called on. Big Ben makes some ridiculous plays, but against Clay Matthews and the weird 2-4-5 defense I see some problems in terms of Pittsburgh’s pass protection. This game will come down to who can protect their quarterback the best, and with a nicked up offensive line plaguing the Steelers, the Packers seem to be the team that will come out with the W when the game is all said and done.
Final Score: Packers 31 Steelers 24
