ACC vs. SEC game atmosphere

I went to Atlanta over the weekend to see Miami play Georgia Tech in an ACC battle and also to see what other college football games and atmosphere are like.   For anyone who doesn’t know Georgia Tech is located in the heart of Atlanta but you would never know since the campus is so closed.  Their stadium seats about fifty-five thousand people.

Being a University of Tennessee student I am spoiled with the SEC atmosphere on game day and one of the biggest stadiums in the country.  Even though the vols have been awful during my time at Tennessee fans still pack into Neyland stadium every Saturday in hopes of an SEC win.

I enjoyed my time at Georgia Tech but the overall atmosphere didn’t come close to an SEC type atmosphere.

Game atmosphere: Tennessee: A, Georgia Tech: C; Since it was a 12 o’clock game many tech fans didn’t make it into the stadium until around 12:30, and still a lot of the upper deck was empty.

Student Section: Tennessee: B+, Georgia Tech: D; One of the more sad displays of school spirit, I think there were no more than 100 students, must have all been at the library.

Tailgating: Tennessee: B+, Georgia Tech: C; Anywhere you go before games at Tennessee you can see people tailgating, Georgia Tech-not so much.

Competition: Tennessee B+, Georgia Tech: B; Any SEC game is going to display great talents, but Miami played Georgia Tech so they brought a ton of NFL talent with them.
